Mock Draft
1) Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
The best quarterback in the 2009 NFL Draft. Excellent senior season with a terrific arm and excellent accuracy. Coming from an 0-16 season I think their is no way the Lions don't draft him and he compets for the starting job from day 1.
2) St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
The best overall tackle in the draft and thanks to the mistakes by Andre Smith I think Jason Smith as well as the other tackles can all increase their draft status during the time before the 2009 draft. Smith in my opinion should garner some consideration for the 1st pick in the draft, but the Lions can draft one with the 20th pick, so Smith can take recently released tackle Orlando Pace's spot
3) Kansas City Chiefs - Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest
In my opinion the best overall player, Aaron Curry had an a phenomnal combine, add that with his playmaker ability, he in my opinon will be a starter from day one in training camp for the Kansas City Chiefs at Outside Linebacker
4) Seattle Seahawks - Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
Monroe, one of the players who move up because of Andre Smiths demise. I have Eugene Monroe going here at 4 to the Seahawks. I think he's an excellent player with fantastic footwork and can both pass and run block. I originally had Micheal Crabtree at this spot, but that's gone now with the signing of TJ Houshmazada. Matthew Stafford and BJ Raji are both possibilities but currently I think they select Eugene Monroe with their fourth overall pick
5) Cleveland Browns - Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
A surprise here, but I think this pick is an excellent pick. First many people will assume they should take a defensive player like Brian Orakpo, but the linebacker/ defensive line class is deep and they can take one in another round, and besides Jamal Lewis, who will be 30 by the time next season starts didn't really have a good season last year, and I don't think the Browns should think he is the answer at running back this season. Moreno has everything took look for in a runningback, speed, power and the abilty to handle 20-25 carries a game, despite his 4.6 40 time, he can and should still be able to split carries with Lewis and eventually take over.
6) Cincinnati Bengals - B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College
One of the easiest picks to make in the enitre draft. The Bengals defensive line is garabage and they should retool it, and how do you start? Well how about at defensive tackle. Raji is a monster and he closes up the gap. I think he's a two gap player, and may command double team which should will leave the other Defensive lineman with one-on-ones
7) Oakland Raiders - Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
I think Michael Crabtree is destined for the Oakland Raiders. First of all with him not participating in the combine and the Seahawks adressing their wide receiver needs, I think some teams will still be a little scared about his foot surgury. So if you add that up which team is in need of a wide receiver and loves to take chances on players? The Raiders! I think Crabtree is an impact player and Al Davis will have no problems drafting Crabtree. Many people may assume maybe a DT or a DE, but I just don't think Al Davis will resist picking Crabtree with the 7th overall pick.
8) Jacksonville Jaguars - Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
I think his passblocking at the combine affected his stock, but with Andre Smiths blunder I think the Jaguars select Oher. First I think with the Jaguars need a receiver and with Crabtree off the board, they could take Jermey Maclin, but first I think they make a strong play for Percy Harvin with their second pick, and besides the Jaguars are a run first team, and Oher is a very great run blocker who can pair up with Tra Thomas at tackle next year.
9) Green Bay Packers - Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas
I think with this pick the Packers are celebrating in the draft room. With the switching to a 3-4 defense I think they'll need another line backer on the other side from Aaron Kampman, and Brian Orakpo is a top 5 pick who I think slips down to 9. With his flexibility, and the linebackers already on the team I think this team can be a sleeper in NFC next year
10) San Francisco 49ers - Everette Brown, DE, Florida St.
Many people see the 49ers should draft a quarterback, but I have two reasons why they wont. 1. I think Shaun Hill is a decent starting quarterback, not great but good enough to not only compete but win the starter job. 2. The 49ers are a defensive team and Shaun Hill will only have to manage the game. So if you add all that up I think they should just increase the defense and with a coach like Mike Singletary, I think he would love to have a versitile player like Everette Brown who can increase their sack totals and challenge the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West next year
11) Buffalo Bills - Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
After trading Jason Peters the Buffalo Bills may opt for one with the 12th overall pick, and I think Smith has cleared his name enough that the Buffalo Bills will select him here with the 12th overall pick
12) Denver Broncos - Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC
I think the Broncos have a lot of other choices they can make, but Rey Maualuga is an excellent player with size, speed and smarts, and he's coming from USC. Unfortunatly, his stock is slipping but can improve it with a good pro day, I think with this pick the Broncos take him and he is the starter and leader at the ILB position for the next decade.
13) Washington Redskins - Tyson Jackson, DE, L.S.U.
I think Tyson Jackson will be taken by the Redskins. First of all with the releasing of Jason Taylor makes this pick even more obvious. I also think in a 4-3 he is a big, strong, physical player who can play both DT and DE. Add that with Albert Hanyesworth coming, this can be a very distruptive defenisive line for a long time
14) New Orleans Saints - Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.
I think these two are made for each other. Malcom Jenkins is a corner who basically took him self out of Cleveland with his combine. Despite that he still is a very good player who can play both corner and safety, and the New Orleans Saints need both a corner and a safety, so if Malcom Jenkins is still here he's probably going to be selected here at 14.
15) Houston Texans - Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
This may be a reach, but Duane Brown was last year as well, so I think the Texans take a corner. Vonte Davis in my opinion at 6-0 and 204 pounds is a physical corner who can play alongside Donte Robinson to create an excellent pair of corners for the next decade
16) San Diego Chargers - Chris Wells, RB, Ohio St.
I think Chris Wells is taken by the Chargers at 16. I think so because everybody the Chargers are at will be gone. Chris Wells is phenomenal player who can take a load of carries as evidened by his performances against Michigan in the last 2 years, he is a big running back, and his 4.5 speed is great for his size. I think Wells alongside LT and Darren Sproles can be a very deadly combination

17) New York Jets - Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
If you take a look at all the moves the Jets have made in the off sesason, most have been on the defensive side. I think this is important because I think this assures that they will draft an offensive player. There are lots of choices. Runningback is a possibilty with Beanie Wells, but I do not think they will really need on one to replace Thomas Jones until next year, and with wideout they can get one in the second round, like an Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt. I think Mark Sanchez is the place the go to. He has all the tools you for in a quarterback. His only flaw is those 16 starts and how Pete Carroll came out and said it, but other then that I think he's a top 10 prospect. Many people may say the Jets should trade up, but I think many of these teams that may him are bluffing and that'll probably cause the Jets to trade up.
18) Denver Broncos - Ron Brace, DT, Boston College
The Denver Broncos, with trading away Jay Cutler get an extra first round pick, and with that trade not only do they have holes all over that pathetic defensive line, they have a hole at QB, and with the brutal schedule they have this season, they may be in contention for Sam Braford next year
19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas St.
Josh Freeman remindes a lot of Joey Flacco. A huge arm, can move around the pocket, and calm and composed. I think some people will be surprised, but currently who do the Buccaneers have at QB? Luke McCown just doesn't remind me of a good quarterback, not even average, I think Freeman starts at the middle of this year, during this rebuilding year for the Buccaneers, and eventually turns into a pretty good quarterback
20) Detroit Lions - Eben Britton, OT, Arizona
You may say this a reach but the Lions already chose Matthew Stafford, and a tackle is needed so I can't really blame the Lions for reach for one. Eben Britten who in my opinion is huge, is a elite passblocker already now and in a few years him and Matthew Stafford may be leading a potent offense in Detriot
21) Philadelphia Eagles - Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma St.
I think Brandon Pettigrew is taken by the Eagles here at 21. I think so because no one else the Eagles are targeting will no longer be available, and will be considered a reach. Pettigrew is phenomenal player who can is a playmaker and, could be what Donavon McNabb was looking for when he said he wanted more weapons.
22) Minnesota Vikings - Alex Mack, C, California
I think this is the way the Vikings go. Losing Matt Birk was huge, but I feel Mack is the second coming of Birk, he's smart, big, physical and nasty and that is in my opinion what a team like Minnesota that likes to run the football and control the football does and needs, and Mack could become the center for the Vikings for the next 10-12 years like Matt Birk was.
23) New England Patriots - Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee
With Ray Maualuga out the board, Bill Belichick will just look to add more pressure on the quarterback. Robert Ayers fits that bill perfectly, he's a rush specialist with a very great burst. He has great speed and can come around the edge. He can also give Belichick lots of new schemes
24) Atlanta Falcons - Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois
The Falcons could really use a rush specialist along side John Abraham, and I think Larry English can be that man
25) Miami Dolphins - Clay Matthews, OLB, USC
Clay Matthews who I think was the most athletic Linebacker of the 3 USC linebackers, and I think Bill Parcells who can find a corner in the later rounds in the draft, would love to make this pick
26) Baltimore Ravens - Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
The Ravens seem as if they wont sign a reciver would be thrilled because Maclin is very fast and explosive and can garner seperation to replace Derrick Mason in the future
27) Indianapolis Colts - Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
The Colts last year with their 250 pounds d-line was exposed when Darren Sproles ran all over them in route to over 300 total yards, but even with receiver as an option, because the loss of Marvin Harrison, I just don't see it happining, with DT as such a big need. Jerry at 290 pounds is big enough to fill up a hole on the d-line
28) Buffalo Bills - Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn St.
The Bills would be very grateful to get a top 15 player at 28, and Maybin can pressure the quarterback
29) New York Giants - Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
This will surprise everyone, but you will hear all cheers from the Giants fans in Radio City Music Hall. Heyward-Bey is very fast and explosive and can garner seperation like Plaxico Burress, but his breakaway speed is unparralled. I see him becoming a great receiver with a QB like Eli Manning. The Giants as well have been rumored to want trade up, but I think many teams like the Jets are bluffing, and they make trade up to as well
30) Tennessee Titans - Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest
Alphonso Smith in my opinon is top 5 corner and the Titans seem to address any and every position on the team other then wide receiver in the draft. I think Smith can be a future lockdown corner in Tennesse.
31) Arizona Cardinals - Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
Johnson is one of those prospect who looks great during workouts, but has bad tape, a lot like Vernon Gholdston, his length and size is amazing, and I think the Cardinals which will need help after losing Antonio Smith draft Michael Johnson and may play OLB in 3-4 after the Cardinals have switched into it for the upcoming season
32) Pittsburgh Steelers - Max Unger, C, Oregon
With the last pick the Steelers will be looking for some line to get better for next season. All year Big Ben was forced to take hit after hit and constantly pressured, which led him into throwing 15 interceptions last year. I think Max Unger can fix that with his versatility, because he can play guard as well
