| Mock Draft |
1)
Detroit Lions -
Matthew Stafford,
QB, Georgia
Done. Signed. Sealed and Delivered. Like Barack in the White House. It's there deal with it. |
2)
St. Louis Rams -
Eugene Monroe,
OT, Virginia
The Rams are hurting in a bad way. They need help with just about every position. OL, all aspects of defense and quite possibly a new QB. The idea here is to look at the best available player. Aaron Curry is an option but is Linebacker a more pressing need than Left Tackle? I've heard grumblings of Michael Crabtree here but I think Donnie Avery is working out well for them. With the available players out there I think a new LT is the best option here. |
3)
Kansas City Chiefs -
Tyson Jackson,
DE, L.S.U.

4)
Seattle Seahawks -
Aaron Curry,
OLB, Wake Forest
Sean Locklear is the Seahawks starting RT right now. If future HOFer Walter Jones is not able to go after his surgery then Locklear will slide over to the left side. Look at both scenarios: 1) Jones plays all year. Hall of Fame Tackle protecting Hasselbecks left side with Locklear protecting the rightside. 2) Jones goes out. Locklear slides over to the leftside. With Ray Willis moving up the depth chart to start on the right side. Seattle pursued Willis heavily to resign with them while letting team favorite Pork Chop Womack go to Cleveland. Whenever a team re-signs a player like Willis they obviously have plans for him. I just don't see them going after a Tackle this high in the draft. This team is not in a rebuilding phase like the other teams in the top ten. They want to win and they want to win now. That is why i think Curry is now the pick here. Julian Peterson was let go and they need to replace that talent on their porous defense.
Another scenario is to get on the phone with the Redskins work out a deal. |
5)
Cleveland Browns -
Michael Crabtree,
WR, Texas Tech
With Aaron Curry and Brain Orakpo gone there is not another LB or DE worth a top 5 pick. B.J Raji is an option but is DT a huge need for the Brownies? I know Shaun Rogers says he wants out but I don't think he's going anywhere. Even if he does, they have high hopes for Ahtyba Rubin. Braylon Edwards had an extremely subpar season last year and it seems that Donte Stallworth would rather run over pedestrians than linebackers. So why not grab the best projected WR in the draft. |
6)
Cincinnati Bengals -
Jason Smith,
OT, Baylor

7)

Oakland Raiders -
Jeremy Maclin,
WR, Missouri

8)
Jacksonville Jaguars -
B.J. Raji,
DT, Boston College
Word is that this pick will belong to somebody else on Saturday. My money is on the Redskins. There is not another owner more likely to make brash moves than Daniel Snyder. Pencil in Raji's name here, but be ready to write in Sanchez with a sharpie. |
9)
Green Bay Packers -
Brian Orakpo,
DE, Texas
With Aaron Kampmann moving to OLB they look to get a big run stuffing DE to replace him. When you play in the NFC North you need big bodies to keep Adrian Peterson, Matt Forte and Kevin Smith out of the secondary. |
10)
San Francisco 49ers -
Mark Sanchez,
QB, USC
The fact that the Niners were willing to pay alot of money to Kurt Warner to play QB for them tells me they are NOT going to go with the QB's they have now. Why should they? Alex Smith has lost enough ego to sit quietly as a backup. Shaun Hill is not a starting QB. Damon Huard has proven time and time again that he is not a starting QB. The jury is still out on Sanchez. Is he a first round QB due to his talent, is it due to being the QB for the NFL's 33rd team USC, or is it due to the serious lack of QB talent in this draft? Niners are one of 4 teams that would be willing to take a chance on him. |
11)
Buffalo Bills -
Aaron Maybin,
DE, Penn St.
The Bills were right below the Bengals in rush defense. So by the transitive property of mock drafts the Bills need to go for a DE as well. 'Cuz y'know we are talking about an exact science here. Anyways, the Bills had 24 sacks last year. That's 14 more than the Chiefs and we all know how much they sucked last year. I don't see the Bills taking a LT to replace Jason Peters right here. I think it will be obvious that Andre Smith and Eben Britton will be available at 28 for them. A game changing DE will not be available then. Gotta grab that one now. |
12)
Denver Broncos -
Rey Maualuga,
ILB, USC
Maualuga is the next in line of an unbelievable string of USC MLB's. Following in the footsteps of Junior Seau and Lofa Tatupu, to name just two, Maualuga will be a Pro Bowler for years to come. Lining him up with Boss Bailey and Wesley Woodyard will give the Broncos one of the best LBing corps in the league. UPDATE- If all of this Cutler demanding a trade talk turns out to be true, look for Josh Freeman being taken. Unless he is traded to Detroit, then look for a complete re-do on this whole mock. |
13)
Washington Redskins -
Michael Oher,
OT, Ole Miss
Redskins have got to get improvements on both Offensive and Defensive lines. I'm starting to think that the O line is a bigger priority. But then again its not as flashy as the D line. Snyder likes to get flashy players. |
14)
New Orleans Saints -
Brian Cushing,
OLB, USC
Darren Sharper is a nice pick up for the Saints. He still has enough gas to play for another year or two. Saints can pick up a safety in the later rounds to groom as his replacement. Saints do need some immediate help at Linebacker. |
15)
Houston Texans -
Malcolm Jenkins,
CB, Ohio St.
S and LB are the only real holes on this team. Not bad for a .500 ball club. Malcolm Jenkins' fall ends here. Laurinaitis' fall continues. |
16)
San Diego Chargers -
Everette Brown,
DE, Florida St.
Igor Olshansky turned out to be about good of a DE as a bag full of douche bags. Chargers get an immediate upgrade here. |
| |
17)
New York Jets -
Darrius Heyward-Bey,
WR, Maryland
I think the Jets front office is one of the more, well I guess idiotic is the best word, groups in the NFL. I mean c'mon how do you essentially trade Chad Pennington for Brett Favre? Did it surprise anyone that Favre had a bad year? I mean people outside of Wisconsin that is. I've put Mark Sanchez and Josh Freeman here before but I don't think they will pull the trigger on drafting a QB. They have got to give Kellen Clemons a shot and they did bring in Brett Ratliff with some hopes of him playing. Since they are giving one of them a shot, they have got to give them a weapon. Coles left to go play in Cincy so there is a big gaping hole there. |
18)
Denver Broncos -
Robert Ayers,
DE, Tennessee
Quick thought about the Cutler trade. Simply put very stupid move Bowlen. Why do G.M's continue to bend over to these little crybaby athletes? You just traded away the only good thing on your team for what? A QB that the Bears couldn't decide who was worse Orton or Rex Grossman. When you have that kind of debate about an athlete your best option is option C. Congrats Bears on the Grand Theft QB! That being said, I don't think the Broncos will take a QB on the first day. Maybe a Rhett Bhomar or Hunter Cantwell later on in the draft. The Broncos will be in the top half of the draft next year as well so look for them to look for a franchise QB next year. |
19)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -
Josh Freeman,
QB, Kansas St.
Josh Johnson, Byron Leftwich, Brian Griese and Luke McCown. I think that's all I really have to say isn't it? UPDATE: The signing of Leftwich is nothing more than a replacement for Jeff Garcia. It doesn't change my pick at all. Bucs still need a QB of the future. Leftwich may start ahead of Freeman to allow him to transistion to the NFL. |
20)
Detroit Lions -
William Beatty,
OT, Connecticut
Lions would be foolish to not follow the example of the Falcons. Draft a franchise QB and then grab a big Tackle to keep him upright. Lions will pass on Andre Smith due to his bizarre behavior. The last thing they need is a head case. |
21)
Philadelphia Eagles -
Knowshon Moreno,
RB, Georgia
Two things are certain in Philly, the cheesesteaks are the best sandwiches you will ever eat and Brian Westbrook will be injured for part of the year. This pick will not be made to replace Westbrook but to complement him and fill in when he will be hurt. Moreno is a more enticing option over Beanie Wells for the Eagles. Moreno does not have the injury bug that has followed Wells and Moreno is a better pass catching RB. I think either one will help the team but you do not want to replace a injury prone RB with another injury prone RB. |
22)
Minnesota Vikings -
Percy Harvin,
WR, Florida
Brad Childress has gone down to Florida to meet with Harvin face to face to discuss the failed drug test. This tells me that he is very "high" on Harvin. |
23)
New England Patriots -
Larry English,
DE, Northern Illinois
The Pats have taken care of a lot of their needs via free agency. They have not on the other hand taken care of the Defensive line. Richard Seymour is no longer a spring chicken, hasn't been for about three years now. I wanted to go OLB here but the signing of Tully Banta-Cain at least puts a band aid on that hole. CB depth is still a major concern, Shawn Springs and Leigh Bodden are good stop gaps until they are hurt. New England can use one of their 3 second round picks on the secondary. Look for a safety and DB taken there. |
24)
Atlanta Falcons -
Peria Jerry,
DT, Ole Miss
I think the Falcons are going to miss Grady Jackson more than they would care to admit. Pettigrew would be a very nice pickup here but you have got to stop the run. UPDATE: With Atlanta getting Tony Gonzalez from the Chiefs can we all stop talking about Pettigrew going to Atlanta? Thank you. |
25)
Miami Dolphins -
Clay Matthews,
OLB, USC
Bill Parcells drafted Bobby Carpenter in the first round when he was with the Cowboys. Carpenter is the son of an NFL player. Clay Matthews is the son of an NFL player. I'll let you do the math. Laurinaitis' fall continues. |
26)
Baltimore Ravens -
Hakeem Nicks,
WR, North Carolina
Can Derrick Mason repeat last year's performance? Can Mark Clayton? Ravens have got to get some young and talented legs onto the football field. Safety might be a point of concern. They lost Leonhard to Rex Ryan and the Jets. But, I can see Zbikowski stepping in and filling both the safety and kick return spot. |
27)
Indianapolis Colts -
Evander Hood,
DT, Missouri
One thing was certain last year, who ever was rushing against the Colts was going to have a very nice game. So, Indy has to put an athletic body to plug those holes. With the Falcons now taking Peria Jerry the Colts have to reach for Ziggy Hood. With the Colts need of a DT, they make Hood worthy of being a 1st rounder. I've seen a lot of the experts saying the Colts go with a WR here. I have to disagree. Marvin Harrison will be missed but I don't see them taking a WR in the 1st round. The defense is a bigger weakness and needs to be taken care of. |
28)
Buffalo Bills -
Andre Smith,
OT, Alabama
Here's my dream scenario. Bills draft Smith and Andre decides to skip workouts. Terrell Owens decides he wants to skip workouts as well. The two start an immediate Bromance. Bills sign Pacman Jones and the three of them go drinking on a boat owned by Cedric Benson. Probably have to do some cruising in Florida with Donte Stallworth driving. |
29)
New York Giants -
Kenny Britt,
WR, Rutgers
Bye Bye Plaxico. I Hope you and Donte Stallworth are bunkmates at the stripey hole. Seriously, how stupid do you have to be. You guys got the world at your feet and you are drunk driving and firing guns into your legs. Say hi to Rae Caruth while you're there. |
30)
Tennessee Titans -
Vontae Davis,
CB, Illinois
Titans need some CB depth. Cortland Finnegan became a fantastic corner last year and will continue to shine. Nick Harper probably has one more year then will probably leave for more green in his wallet. Davis can step in and start right away. Which will make the loss of Harper easy if not required. |
31)
Arizona Cardinals -
Michael Johnson,
DE, Georgia Tech
I have had Chris Wells going here for a long time, just waiting for the Cards to release or trade Edgerin James. Waiting....and waiting. I don't think it's going to happen now. So, with that Wells drops out of the 1st round completely. He is a very talented RB but what team out there doesn't already have a starting RB? Teams that need a complementary RB have greater needs than that of a RB that will share carries. Cards are going to draft a replacement for Antonio Smith whom they lost to the Texans. I think that last years 4th round pick Kenny Iwebema will be given the starting job opposite Travis LaBoy but I don't see that lasting all year. |
32)
Pittsburgh Steelers -
Alex Mack,
C, California
